Mr Willie Kavanagh, CEO EMI Music Ireland, who is a mentor for Eorosong 2011, has taken Mahoney’s ‘Shine On’ song as his choice for the Eurosong. The winner of this competition will go on to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in May. As part of the process RTE are recording a documentary on the acts to be screened on the 4th February. The Late Late Show on the 11th of February will show all acts singing live and the public wiull vote for a winner.
Eurovision coordinators have decided upon a new selection process for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, enlisting five music industry professionals to develop and mentor five separate song entries to compete in the Eurosong 2011, where the winner will be selected by a combination of public vote and regional juries.
The five mentors are:
Caroline Downey-Desmond – Director MCD and event producer
Ronan Hardiman – composer (Lord of Dance)
David Hayes – Musical Director and arranger (Tommy Fleming and Riverdance)
Willie Kavanagh – Chairman, EMI Music Ireland
Liam Lawton – composer and performer
