Mahoney is a clean living, hardworking and passionate entertainer who enjoys working hard and gigging. Born on Dublin’s north-side he has spent the best part of the last 2 years in the studio working on his debut album, Love Child, which has sold over 3500 copies so far at his gigs. The album is filled with catchy hooks and melodies, the songs are well written to the extent that the former MD of Warner Music Ireland has stated that “Mahoney is the next Billy Joel!”. Other initial reviews have compared the sound as “Beatle-esque with a modern fusion of ELO” and a “fresh sound reminiscent of the Kinks”.
Produced by Ciaran Byrne (U2 and Van Morrison), and Ray Traynor (Boyzone and The Script), every effort was made to ensure it reached its potential. After completing the album 4 tracks were chosen from it and brought them back into the studio to remix for radio. These were mixed by Ger Mc Donnell who has recently worked with Madonna. The first track released from the album was Gucci Boy Band. In addition to getting national radio play; it also got the following response at the International Music Festival in Midem, France, this year: “Seriously good song, great production, you won’t hear much better than that this year” D Halle, MD of Green Pumpkin Records and “The best track I have heard in the last 6 months, the guy is a star in the making” Sir Harry Cowell, Private and Confidential Music Group. The second track released from the album, Love Child, had DJ’s calling it “the summer song of 2010” and “the feel good track of the year”. Mahoney’s live performances have received plenty of discussion with the indo saying “probably one of the best free gigs you will see this year”. He has played some great venues in Ireland such as Vicar St, The Olympia, The Helix and The Sugar Club. Everywhere he plays, Mahoney guarantees the audience an energy filled show packed with a combination of original songs, mixed with a fantastic selection of popular covers everyone knows and enjoys.
